Chitwan, Jan 11: The deadline for cutting the hill for the construction of a bridge on the Tuin river in the Narayangadh-Muglin road section of Chitwan has been extended. The hill cutting work, necessary for the bridge construction, involved a temporary traffic stoppage for four hours daily.

Kedar Prasad Khanal, Chief Engineer of the Nagadhuga Muglin Road Plan West Section, reported successful progress in cutting 15 meters of the mountain in 21 days. Despite previous interruptions, work had resumed at the site from 7th Poush, halting traffic between 12 noon and 4 am.

Chief Engineer Khanal requested an additional 30 days to cut the remaining 20 meters of the 60-meter mountain. The Chief District Officer, Bhupendra Thapa, granted an extension until January 20, acknowledging the challenging task posed by the hard rock in the mountain.

The hill-cutting operation employs three high-power rock breakers, weighing 38 tons and 22 tons, to overcome the geological challenges. Among the 15 bridges in the road section, the hill-cutting work is critical for the completion of the overall project.
