Renewed COVID-19 Cases Emerge in Chitwan After 10 Months
Chitwan, Jan 16: Chitwan district is witnessing a resurgence of COVID-19 cases after a hiatus of 10 months. According to Gopal Paudel, the information officer of Bharatpur Hospital, separate tests conducted on Sunday and Monday confirmed the presence of the coronavirus in a 29-year-old individual and a 66-year-old man.
The 66-year-old patient, who sought hospital treatment for pneumonia, tested positive for COVID-19 during the examination and has been admitted to the hospital for immediate treatment. The 29-year-old individual has been placed in home isolation.
Gitanjali Dhakal, Public Health Officer of the Health Office in Chitwan, highlighted that this marks the first instance of COVID-19 infection in the district in the past 10 months, with the last reported case dating back to March.
In response to the recent cases, the Health Office in Chitwan has issued a cautionary statement, advising residents to exercise vigilance. The office recommends the continuation of preventive measures, including the maintenance of social distance, the use of masks, and regular handwashing with soap to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
As the district grapples with the reemergence of the virus, health authorities and the community are urged to work together in implementing necessary precautions and measures to curb the potential spread of the virus in Chitwan.
