Retired Brigadier Amir Hamza of Pakistan Army Killed in Targeted Shooting
Kathmandu, Jun 24: Retired Brigadier Amir Hamza of the Pakistan Army was shot dead by unidentified gunmen while traveling with his family in Jhelum district, Punjab state.
The incident occurred near Lilah Interchange when four gunmen on two motorcycles surrounded Hamza’s car and fired indiscriminately. Hamza died on the spot, while his wife and daughter sustained injuries.
The attackers left the scene after confirming Hamza’s death. Punjab State Police have categorized the incident as a targeted killing. Hamza, a former ISI spy, was considered dangerous and had been declared most wanted by India for his alleged involvement in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. In 2012, the US labeled him a global terrorist.
Hamza hailed from Gujranwala, Punjab province, Pakistan. His brother, Mohammad Ayub, mentioned that the assailants did not engage in any robbery, and the family is puzzled by the motive behind the killing.
