Landslides Block Karnali Highway for Four Days
Manm, Jul 8: The Karnali Highway has been blocked for four days due to continuous rain. A landslide in Shubhkalika Rural Municipality-1, Gagnekhola of Kalikot, has not yet been cleared.
Information officer and police inspector Poshan Thapa of the District Police Office Kalikot reported that additional landslides have blocked roads in Esmode, Hulmbazar, Serighat, Khandachakra Municipality-4, Molfabazar in Ward No. 6, and Timure Bhir in Tilagufa Municipality-6 on the Karnali Highway.
Chief District Officer Ganesh Nepali has urged locals at risk of landslides to move to safe places. “There have been reports of house collapses in some areas,” he said. “Efforts are underway to relocate settlements prone to floods and landslides to safer locations.”
