High Human Losses in Koshi, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces Due to Monsoon

Kathmandu, Jul 11: Koshi, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces have suffered significant human losses during this year’s monsoon season, which is predicted to bring even more rain.

In the month since the onset of the monsoon (from May 28 to June 27), 88 people have died across the country, with the highest casualties occurring in these three provinces.

Gandaki province has experienced the most significant human loss among the seven provinces, with 23 deaths in Lumbini province and 19 in Koshi province, according to Deputy Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki, the spokesperson for Nepal Police.

The Nepal Police report indicates that one person died in Kathmandu Valley, four in Madhes Province, five in Bagmati Province, four in Karnali Province, and seven in Sudurpaschim Province.

Karki also reported that 106 people have been injured across the country, and six are still missing. Additionally, 176 houses have been inundated by floods, and 3,462 families have been displaced due to the disaster.
