Kathmandu, Aug 19: Monsoon-related disasters, including floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains, have resulted in the deaths of 190 people across Nepal. Nepal Police Central Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki reported that eight people lost their lives in the last 24 hours alone. Since May 28th, the death toll from these natural disasters has risen to 190.

The fatalities have been distributed across various provinces, with three deaths in Kathmandu Valley, 27 in Koshi Province, eight in Madhesh Province, 32 in Bagmati Province, 56 in Gandaki Province, 36 in Lumbini Province, 13 in Karnali Province, and 15 in Sudurpaschim Province.

In addition to the fatalities, 238 people have been injured due to these disasters. The injured include 11 people in Kathmandu Valley, 38 in Koshi Province, 12 in Madhesh Province, 23 in Bagmati Province, 45 in Gandaki Province, 18 in Lumbini Province, 57 in Karnali Province, and 34 in Sudurpaschim Province.

The police have rescued 114 people so far. Meanwhile, 49 people are reported missing in Koshi Province, one in Madhesh Province, 41 in Bagmati Province, two in Gandaki Province, and one each in Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces.

The floods have submerged 384 houses and damaged 327 houses, 112 sheds, 51 bridges, four schools, and two government offices. Additionally, 4,819 families have been displaced due to the disaster, according to the latest details released by the police.
