Condition of Missing Spanish Tourist in Annapurna Region Still Unclear
Kaski, Sept 13: The condition of 32-year-old Molas Junca Messi, a Spanish tourist who went missing on August 9 while trekking in the Annapurna region, remains unknown. Molas disappeared from Annapurna Rural Municipality-9, Tikhedhunga, in Kaski.
Yam Bahadur Gurung, in-charge of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Wirethanti Checkpost, stated that although the body of 37-year-old Eric, another missing person, was found two days later in the Bhurungdi River, Molas’s whereabouts are still unconfirmed.
A search team, including armed police divers, has been combing a five-kilometer area along the riverbank, but no further information has been discovered. The tourist was reported missing after two bags and trekking sticks were found abandoned near a waterfall on the route.
Tourism professionals, like Krishna Acharya, president of Trekking Agents Association Nepal (TAN) Gandaki, emphasize the risks tourists face when trekking without a guide, urging strict adherence to rules requiring foreign tourists to be accompanied by Nepali helpers or guides.
