Kaligandaki Corridor Blocked Again Due to Heavy Rainfall
Dhorpatan, Sept 27: The Kaligandaki Corridor, a National Pride Project, has been blocked once again due to heavy rains. The road was completely closed by a landslide at Baglung Municipality-10 Dablyang, cutting off direct communication from the southern part of Baglung to the district headquarters.
The corridor had just resumed operations on Thursday after being blocked for two months. However, heavy rainfall has caused another obstruction, according to Bhoj Bahadur Gurung, Head of the Maldhunga Police Station.
The corridor, which is crucial for connecting China and India, often remains closed during the monsoon season. As a result, traffic to areas such as Baglung Balewa, Jaimini, and Bareng has been brought to a halt, leaving passengers stranded. Transportation to Butwal, Bhairahawa, and the Terai region has also been disrupted.
While the Dablang-Kalakhola section was opened as an alternative route, heavy rains have made it unusable for vehicles. Gurung added that reopening the road might not be possible immediately due to the continued rainfall.
