No Heavy Rain Expected, Light Rain Likely in Some Regions: Weather Forecast Division
Kathmandu, Sept 29: The Department of Water and Meteorology’s Weather Forecast Division has announced that heavy rainfall is unlikely for the time being, though the possibility of light rain persists. Monsoon conditions across the country, coupled with a low-pressure system over India’s Uttar Pradesh and its surrounding areas, are partially impacting Nepal’s weather.
Meteorologist Shanti Kandel stated that while the overall weather is showing signs of improvement, light rain may occur in various parts of the country until Tuesday. “There is no immediate risk of heavy rain causing a disaster, but light rainfall will continue until Tuesday,” she noted.
The department’s three-day forecast indicates partial to general cloud cover across the country, with light rain currently observed in some areas of Koshi and Lumbini regions. For tonight, skies will be partly to mostly cloudy, and light to moderate rain is expected in parts of Koshi province and the hilly areas of the country.
The forecast for Monday suggests partly to mostly cloudy conditions across the country, with potential light to moderate rain in the hilly regions and isolated areas in other provinces. On Tuesday, similar weather patterns are expected, with some regions experiencing light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.
The department advises caution against possible localized hazards, such as landslides, floods, and soil erosion, especially in hilly areas. They also warn of potential impacts on agriculture, health, tourism, mountain climbing, and road and air traffic, urging the public to remain vigilant.
