Vibha Basnet Highlights Neglect of Mrs. Pageants in Nepal Despite International Success
Kathmandu, Nov 22: Vibha Basnet, crowned Mrs. Heritage International Nepal, has expressed concern over the lack of recognition for Mrs. pageants in Nepal compared to Miss competitions.
During a press conference in the capital, Basnet shared her experiences from the recent Heritage Pageant international competition, where she represented Nepal. She noted that despite greater international success in Mrs. pageants, they are still undervalued in Nepal.
“The international experience was enriching as I learned about diverse cultures and shared Nepali heritage and the resilience of Nepali women,” Basnet said. She emphasized her pride in representing Nepali women on a global platform, saying, “Winning is a joy, but participation itself is a privilege. It’s an achievement for the nation.”
Renowned international choreographer Rojin Shakya, also present at the event, stressed the importance of discipline and punctuality for Nepal to excel in international pageants. “Nepalis often overlook the importance of time, unlike international contestants. We must improve in this aspect,” Shakya remarked.
Shakya added that Nepal’s rich art and culture provide a strong foundation for success in such events, but there is a need for focused preparation.
Green Art Media, which facilitated Basnet’s participation, shared insights into their rigorous selection process. Chairperson Anila Shrestha highlighted their efforts, saying, “Our systematic approach, from auditions to training, has led to this achievement. We aim to secure more international titles for Nepal in the future.”
Basnet’s victory underscores the potential of Nepali women in the global arena, with calls for greater appreciation and support for Mrs. pageants in Nepal.
