1,294 Climbers Secure Permits for Autumn Mountain Expeditions

Kathmandu, Nov 29: A total of 1,294 climbers have obtained permits for mountain climbing during the autumn season, according to the Department of Tourism. This includes 1,072 men and 294 women from 159 groups, aiming to scale 46 different peaks.

The permit issuance concluded today, stated department director Rakesh Gurung. Among the permits issued, Mount Ama Dablam received the highest interest, with 481 climbers from 41 groups. Similarly, 308 climbers from 28 groups are set to climb Mount Manaslu, 144 climbers from 12 groups will attempt Himlung, and 14 climbers from a single group will tackle Mount Dhaulagiri.

Climbers from 73 countries, including Nepal, are participating this season. The government has collected Rs 85.883 million in royalties from the permits. While expeditions to Manaslu and Himlung have already been completed, climbing activities on peaks like Ama Dablam are still underway.
