President Poudel Calls for Unity and Prosperity on National Democracy Day

Kathmandu, Feb 19: On the occasion of National Democracy Day, 2081, President Ram Chandra Poudel expressed confidence that democracy will continue to strengthen national unity, promoting social justice, equality, and prosperity.
In his message, President Poudel highlighted the significance of the day, noting that it established the belief that the people are the ultimate source of state power. He called it a proud and unforgettable day in Nepal’s history, recognizing the struggles and sacrifices of martyrs for the sovereignty of the country.
He emphasized that the Federal Democratic Republic, a major achievement after over seven decades of struggle, was realized through the 2007 BS revolution. President Poudel also pointed out that Nepal’s constitution aims to build a socialist-oriented economy based on justice and equality within the framework of a federal democratic republic.
Poudel celebrated the successful election of people’s representatives and the formation of three-tier governments as a historic achievement and expressed optimism for the country’s future.
The President paid tribute to all known and unknown martyrs who sacrificed their lives for democracy and expressed hope that all political parties and state bodies will work towards implementing constitutional values.
National Democracy Day is celebrated every year on March 23 to honor the successful 2007 BS revolution and the fight for human rights and political freedom.
