Trump Signs Executive Order Restricting Chinese Investment in Key Sectors

Washington, Feb 22: US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Friday imposing restrictions on Chinese investments in critical sectors such as technology, infrastructure, healthcare, and energy.
The White House stated that the order aims to protect US national security by curbing China’s influence, particularly in military and intelligence advancements. It directs the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) to scrutinize and limit Chinese investments in strategic industries.
This move follows a recent 10% tariff increase on all Chinese imports, escalating trade tensions between the two nations. Despite these measures, Trump hinted at the possibility of a trade deal with China last Wednesday. Beijing has denied the allegations of exploiting US capital for military advancements.
