Curfew Imposed in Kathmandu as Monarchist Protests Turn Violent

Kathmandu, March 28: Authorities have imposed a curfew in three areas of Kathmandu after demonstrations by monarchist activists escalated into arson and vandalism.

The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, announced that the curfew is in effect from 4:25 PM to 10 PM in Koteshwor, Tinkune, and Sinamangal. The restricted areas include Gaushala to the Airport, Gairidhara, Koteshwor via Tinkune, Koteshwor to Jadibuti Bridge, Koteshwor to Balkumari Bridge, Baneshwar to Shankhamul Bridge, and Gaushala Chowk to Baneshwar.

The unrest led to police intervention, including lathi charges and tear gas, to control the situation. Protesters set fire to a private house in Triangle during clashes with security forces. Additionally, they vandalized the CPN (Maoist) office in Alok Nagar, Koteshwor Bhatbhateni, and the Civil Aviation office in Sinamangal.
