Prachanda Admits Political Weaknesses Led to Monarchist Resurgence

Kathmandu, March 28: CPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has acknowledged that the resurgence of monarchist sentiments is a result of political weaknesses.
Speaking at a public gathering of the Socialist Front in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, Prachanda admitted that despite the abolition of the monarchy through the people’s movement and civil war, certain weaknesses after the promulgation of the constitution have allowed royalist forces to gain ground.
As a key figure in the People’s War, peace process, and establishment of the republic, he stated that past mistakes contributed to the current situation. He blamed both political shortcomings and the influence of brokers and bureaucrats for the instability.
Prachanda assured that corrective measures would be taken and vowed to fulfill people’s expectations. He also issued a stern warning to former King Gyanendra Shah, cautioning him against attempting to reverse history.
