Kathmandu, March 30: The Nepalese government has taken a firm stance against former King Gyanendra Shah following violent monarchist demonstrations in Tinkune on Friday. Officials have accused Shah of orchestrating the unrest, which led to vandalism, arson, and looting in Kathmandu.

According to security agencies, intelligence reports suggest that the former king played a central role in directing the protests. As a result, the government has initiated the process of canceling Shah’s passport, suspecting that he may attempt to flee abroad amid rising tensions.

A senior government official stated that Shah is seen as the “master planner” behind the violent incidents and must be held accountable. Public pressure from media, citizens, and opposition parties has also intensified, urging the government to monitor and take legal action against the former monarch.

Sources indicate that calls for Shah’s arrest are growing stronger. The government is currently evaluating the legal and political implications of further action.
