Kathmandu, April 30: As U.S. President Donald Trump marked the 100th day of his second term, he visited Michigan to speak about his administration’s progress and future plans. In this short span, Trump has conducted an intense diplomatic outreach, engaging with numerous world leaders through meetings and phone calls.

According to White House records:

  • Trump has held 33 official phone calls with foreign leaders.
  • He has conducted 17 in-person meetings, including two with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and two with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
  • His first foreign leader meeting was with Netanyahu on February 4 at the White House.

Trump’s diplomacy extended beyond typical channels. His first call as president this term was with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, while the most contentious interactions reportedly occurred with British Prime Minister Kerry Starmer, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau—each involved in at least three diplomatic disputes with Trump.

The meetings reflect a broad geopolitical agenda, with key dates as follows:

  • Feb 4 – Netanyahu (Israel) at White House
  • Feb 7 – Shigeru Ishiba (Japan) at White House
  • Feb 11 – King Abdullah II (Jordan) at White House
  • Feb 13 – Narendra Modi (India) at White House
  • Feb 22 – Javier Milei (Argentina) & Andrzej Duda (Poland) at CPAC
  • Feb 24 – Emmanuel Macron (France) at White House
  • Feb 27 – Kerry Starmer (UK) at White House
  • Feb 28 – Volodymyr Zelensky (Ukraine) at White House
  • Mar 12 – Michael Martin (Ireland) at White House
  • Mar 13 – Mark Rutte (NATO Secretary-General) at White House
  • Mar 18 – Tahnoun bin Zayed (UAE) at White House
  • Mar 29 – Alexander Stubb (Finland) at Trump Golf Club
  • Apr 7 – Netanyahu (Israel) again at White House
  • Apr 14 – Nayib Bukele (El Salvador) with VP at White House
  • Apr 17 – Giorgia Meloni (Italy) at White House
  • Apr 26 – Zelensky again, this time at St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican City

Trump has maintained regular contact with key allies and adversaries alike. He has called Israeli PM Netanyahu and Russian President Putin twice and engaged in direct conversation with Amazon CEO Joseph and Canadian PM Carney just before the Michigan rally.

According to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, the president’s diplomatic actions are part of “a broader effort to reward global cooperation and strengthen American leadership.”
