India Closes 24 Airports Amid Drone, Missile Threats from Pakistan

Kathmandu, May 9: In response to growing security concerns over alleged drone and missile threats, both India and Pakistan have heightened internal security. India has taken significant measures, including the temporary closure of 24 airports across the country.
According to the Hindustan Times, 90 flights were canceled at Delhi International Airport alone. The Civil Aviation Authority of India (CAA) made the decision in light of suspected aerial threats originating from Pakistan.
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has issued nationwide directives mandating tighter airport security. These include:
- Full screening of all passengers at every airport
- Ban on visitors from entering terminal buildings
- Deployment of Air Marshals for additional in-flight safety
Air India has also updated its travel guidelines, urging domestic passengers to arrive three hours early, with check-in closing 75 minutes before departure.
The situation remains tense as both nations maintain a high level of security preparedness.
