Kathmandu, May 15: A delegation led by Batu Kasikov, Chief of Kalmykia in the Russian Federation, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar today.

During the meeting, both sides discussed various aspects of the friendly relations between Nepal and Russia. Chief Kasikov extended an invitation to PM Oli to attend the International Buddhist Conference scheduled to be held in Kalmykia this September.

In a key diplomatic request, Prime Minister Oli urged that Nepali citizens not be recruited into the Russian army, citing the absence of any military agreement between Nepal and Russia. In response, Chief Kasikov assured the Prime Minister that recruitment would not take place.
