Home Minister Orders Immediate Relief for Humla Landslide Victims

Kathmandu, May 19: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has ordered urgent relief efforts for those affected by a landslide in Tilgaun, located in Namkha Rural Municipality-6 of Humla.
During a meeting held at the Home Ministry on Monday, Minister Lekhak instructed authorities to immediately dispatch tents and food supplies to the displaced. Given the remote location, he emphasized the need to airlift relief materials by helicopter and send a technical team for on-site assessment.
The avalanche in Tilgaun has displaced 32 residents, prompting concerns about shelter and safety. Minister Lekhak directed officials to arrange temporary accommodation for the victims without delay and to prepare a detailed field report.
Looking ahead to the monsoon season, the Home Minister also called for early disaster preparedness, urging the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority to convene meetings with the security committees of all seven provinces and 77 districts for pre-monsoon coordination.
The meeting was attended by Home Secretary Gokarnamani Duwadi, security agency chiefs, and senior officials from concerned departments.
