Nepal, UK Discuss Deeper Cooperation in Health Sector

Kathmandu, May 21: Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Poudel held a meeting with UK Deputy Minister for Public Health and Prevention Ashley Dalton on the sidelines of the World Health Conference in Geneva.

During the discussion, Minister Poudel thanked the UK Government for its continued support in Nepal’s health sector and explored new areas of cooperation, particularly in strengthening basic health services and improving hospital infrastructure.

Deputy Minister Dalton appreciated Nepal’s efforts to improve its health system and expressed commitment to further enhance collaboration, reflecting the long-standing friendship between Nepal and the UK.

Minister Poudel also engaged in bilateral talks with health officials from various countries. He discussed expanding Nepal-India health cooperation with Indian Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava.

According to his secretariat, the Minister is scheduled to meet with several international health organizations during the conference to seek broader cooperation for strengthening Nepal’s healthcare services.
