Kathmandu, May 27: Punjab Kings defeated Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets in the 69th match of the IPL, securing a place in the top two of the points table with 19 points and claiming the top position.

The match was held at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, where Punjab won the toss and chose to bowl first. Mumbai Indians posted 184/7 in 20 overs. In response, Punjab chased down the target in 18.3 overs, finishing at 185/3.

Captain Shreyas Iyer sealed the victory with a six off Trent Boult, remaining unbeaten on 26 off 16 balls. The chase was anchored by Jose Inglis, who scored 73, and Priyansh Arya, who added 62, combining for a century partnership.

For Mumbai, Suryakumar Yadav top-scored with 57 off 39 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes. However, other batsmen struggled to cross the 30-run mark.

Punjab’s bowling was led by Arshdeep Singh, Marco Jansen, and Vijaykumar Vyshak, each picking up two wickets. Mitchell Santner and Jasprit Bumrah took one wicket each for Mumbai.

With this result:

  • Punjab Kings will play Qualifier 1 on May 22.
  • Mumbai Indians drop to an eliminator round, scheduled for May 24.
