Tragedy at Liverpool Victory Parade: Car Plows into Crowd, 47 Injured

London, May 27: A man drove his car into a crowd of football fans in Liverpool, injuring at least 47 people during a Premier League victory parade for Liverpool Football Club.
The incident occurred on Water Street around 6:00 PM local time on Monday evening, when a car struck several pedestrians who had gathered to celebrate. According to police, 27 people were hospitalized, while 20 others were treated on the spot.
Authorities have arrested a 53-year-old local white man in connection with the incident. Local police have urged the public to avoid speculation and refrain from sharing disturbing images or videos online.
Reports indicate that around one million people attended the parade.
Liverpool Riverside MP Kim Johnson expressed concern for the victims, saying, “I hope all the victims are safe and will return to their families soon.”
Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the incident “shocking” and extended condolences to the victims. “The images from Liverpool are horrific. I urge the public to give the police the space and time needed to carry out their investigation,” he said.
Liverpool Football Club issued a statement expressing solidarity: “We are in contact with the police. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this incident.”
The motive behind the act remains under investigation.
