New Zealand Deputy PM Winston Peters Meets Prime Minister KP Oli in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, May 28: New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Winston Peters paid a courtesy visit to Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at his official residence in Baluwatar today.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed matters of bilateral interest, mutual relations, and ways to boost multilateral cooperation. Both sides identified strong potential for collaboration in sectors such as agriculture, tourism, education, trade, and investment.
Prime Minister Oli emphasized the government’s focus on stability, development, good governance, social justice, and fulfilling the national vision of a “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis.” Deputy Prime Minister Peters reaffirmed New Zealand’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s development and highlighted the importance of working together on the international stage.
High-ranking officials from Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also present during the meeting.
The two nations share a longstanding bond, notably symbolized by the historic 1953 ascent of Mount Everest by Tenzing Norgay of Nepal and Sir Edmund Hillary of New Zealand.
