Kathmandu, May 31: The Nepal Golf Association (NGA) is all set to host the 11th Nepal Amateur Open Golf Championship from Tuesday to Thursday at Gokarna Golf Club, a 72-par course.
Players from five countries—India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal—will participate in the 54-hole, three-day tournament, as announced by NGA General Secretary Deepak Acharya.
A total of 30–35 Nepali male golfers and 10 international female golfers are expected, with the final number to be confirmed by Sunday’s registration deadline.
The event includes men’s individual and team competitions. In the team event, two players from each country will compete, with the winner determined by the combined score after 36 holes. Nepal A Team will feature Sadbhav Acharya and Rahul Bishwakarma, while Nepal B Team has also been finalized.
Players from Koshi, Gandaki, and Bagmati provinces will represent Nepal, with six players each from Koshi and Gandaki.
In the individual men’s event, a cut will be applied after 36 holes, and only the top 60% will advance to the final 18 holes. Only Nepal and India are fielding players in the women’s event.
The competition is recognized by the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), and players will earn ranking points.
