Nepal’s Inflation Drops by 1.63 Percent

Kathmandu, June 10: Nepal’s inflation rate has declined by 1.63 percent, according to the Nepal Rastra Bank’s (NRB) latest report on the country’s economic and financial status for the first 10 months of the current fiscal year 2081-82.
The NRB reported that as of mid-April, the consumer price inflation stood at 2.77 percent, compared to 4.40 percent during the same period last year.
Breaking it down:
- The food and beverage group saw a price rise of 1.52 percent, significantly lower than last year’s 6.41 percent.
- The non-food and services group experienced a 3.45 percent price increase, slightly higher than last year’s 3.09 percent.
Within the food category:
- The price of ghee and oil surged by 11.08 percent.
- Fruits and vegetables increased by 6.15 percent.
- Pulses and legumes went up by 5.17 percent.
- Non-alcoholic beverages rose by 4.7 percent.
On the other hand, some prices declined:
- Vegetables dropped by 8.11 percent.
- Spices decreased by 2.20 percent.
- Fish and meat fell by 0.48 percent.
Overall, inflation dropped to 3.95 percent in April 2082, compared to 5.68 percent in May last year, showing a noticeable improvement in price stability.
