St. Petersburg, June 19: Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed readiness to support Iran’s peaceful nuclear development while addressing Israel’s security concerns.

Putin revealed that Russia has engaged in detailed discussions with Israeli and US officials and has already sent proposals to Iranian authorities. “It is possible to satisfy Iran’s interest in peaceful nuclear energy and simultaneously address Israel’s national security concerns,” he said.

While not disclosing full details, Putin mentioned that Russia has proposed a possible resolution to ease the nuclear-related tensions. He emphasized that the final decision now rests with the political leadership of the countries involved.

Putin also highlighted Russia’s long-standing nuclear cooperation with Iran, particularly referencing the Bushehr nuclear power plant project, initially designed by a German company and later completed by Russia’s state nuclear agency, Rosatom. He confirmed that Russia has signed a deal to construct two more reactor units at Bushehr, with over 200 Russian specialists currently working on-site.

Additionally, Putin assured that Russia has coordinated with Israeli authorities to ensure security around the ongoing construction.

The statement comes amid heightened conflict after Israel launched Operation Rising Lion on June 13, targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. Iran has since retaliated, and both countries have reported casualties as fighting continues.
