Prime Minister Oli: Nepal Faces a Discipline Crisis

Kathmandu, June 21: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said on Saturday that Nepali society is suffering from a growing problem of lack of discipline.
Speaking at the main event of the 11th World Yoga Day 2025 in Lalitpur, PM Oli emphasized that discipline is the foundation of yoga.
“When we talk about yoga, discipline comes first. Today, Nepali society is struggling with a discipline crisis. Without discipline, neither knowledge nor meditation can take us forward. Even meditation requires discipline,” Oli said.
He added that if those who use weapons understood the discipline and principles of yoga, violence would not exist.
“The danger does not lie in the weapon itself. Weapons do not fire on their own – people fire them. That is the real danger. Ego builds weapons, ego destroys, and ego enjoys destruction,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, Education Minister Raghuji Pant highlighted that yoga is not only part of Vedic tradition but also a global lifestyle. He stressed the need to promote yoga and meditation as Nepal’s intellectual and cultural heritage.
