MP Sumana Shrestha Criticizes Lawmakers for Speaking Without Reading Reports

Kathmandu, July 1: Rastriya Swatantra Party MP Sumana Shrestha has criticized committee members for speaking in meetings without reading the reports and blaming government employees for errors.
During a discussion with the Speaker on Tuesday, Shrestha pointed out that it was wrong for MPs to admit they hadn’t read the reports before commenting on them.
She also stressed the need to remove vague terms from bills, stating, “Remove the word ‘except’ from the main bill. Until then, the meaning remains unclear.”
Shrestha added that blaming the bureaucracy without proper understanding and merely echoing party leaders raises serious concerns about the culture of decision-making in Parliament.
She urged MPs to acknowledge mistakes and understand their root causes. “Mistakes happen, but admitting them is the first step to correction,” she said.
