Prachanda Inaugurates YCL’s National Labor and Production Campaign in Lalitpur

Kathmandu, Jul 17: Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, formally inaugurated the ‘YCL Campaign on Labor and Production’ at a special program held at Balkumari Chowk, Sunakothi in Lalitpur today.
The event saw Prachanda actively join youth volunteers in physical labor activities including bricklaying, grass cutting, tree planting, and cleaning the public square—demonstrating symbolic support for the nationwide campaign.
In his address, Prachanda described the initiative as a continuation of the “production brigade” launched during the earlier phase of the Maoist movement. He emphasized that the campaign was rooted in both ideological commitment and practical economic goals.
“At the very first meeting of the newly formed central committee, we decided that the party and YCL must take a leading role in strengthening the national economy through production and construction,” Prachanda stated. He also extended appreciation to the Maoist Youth Communist League (YCL) for driving the campaign forward.
Prachanda urged youth to stand against corruption, warning that continued government misconduct could lead to public demonstrations. “If the government persists in corruption, we will have no choice but to take to the streets,” he declared.
The YCL campaign is being carried out from 55 locations nationwide, mobilizing young party cadres under a call to support national productivity, prosperity, and self-reliance. Prachanda concluded by encouraging youth to be at the forefront of building a dignified and production-based economy.
