Kathmandu, July 27: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have announced a “strategic halt” to military operations in specific areas of the Gaza Strip to facilitate increased humanitarian aid.

According to an official IDF statement, military activity will be paused daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time in three regions where the army is not currently active: al-Mawasi, Deir al-Balah, and Gaza City. This pause will continue until further notice.

The IDF stated that the decision was made following discussions with the United Nations and international aid organizations.

In a related move, Israel will also keep border crossings open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. to ensure the safe passage of humanitarian convoys delivering essential supplies like food and medicine to Gaza residents.
