MCC Official Meets Nepal’s Forest and Environment Minister, Discusses Project Progress

Kathmandu, August 13: MCC Assistant Vice President John Wingle met with Forest and Environment Minister Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri to discuss ongoing cooperation under the Millennium Challenge Corporation project, according to the ministry.

Minister Shahi thanked the U.S. government for its sustained support to Nepal’s development and praised the MCC initiative for helping realize the government’s goal of enhancing connectivity through high-quality transmission lines and highways.

He said the project’s implementation has strengthened bilateral ties, increased mutual trust, and will not only improve Nepal’s domestic electricity supply but also boost cross-border power trade with India, paving the way for regional integration with Asia’s energy market.

Wingle expressed keen interest in the progress of the MCC project and its future implementation.
