Tehran, Aug 24: Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has urged the formation of a United National Front to resist US efforts to subjugate Iran.

Speaking at a mosque in Tehran, with the remarks later published on his official website, Khamenei accused the United States and Israel of attempting to destabilize the Islamic Republic following recent military confrontations.

He said rare Israeli and US attacks on major Iranian nuclear facilities last June triggered Iranian retaliation, marking the most intense direct confrontation in history between the two sides. According to him, Washington sought to decide the fate of Iran’s leadership after Israel’s invasion.

“This country has been strengthened by the 12-day war last June,” Khamenei said, adding that Iran had inflicted a “heavy blow” on its enemies. He warned that US and Israeli “agents” were working to sow internal divisions in Iran.

Tehran and Washington have remained adversaries since the 1979 Islamic Revolution and the US embassy hostage crisis. While Washington and its allies accuse Iran of pursuing nuclear weapons, Tehran has consistently denied the allegation.
