Everest Women’s Volleyball League Kicks Off in Pokhara

Kaski, Sept 6: The second edition of the Everest Women’s Volleyball League began in Pokhara today with defending champions Karnali Yashvis and Lalitpur Queens securing victories in their opening matches. Both teams earned three points each.
In the tournament opener, Karnali defeated Pokhara Ninjas 3-0. They won the first set 25-21, the second 25-20, and finished strongly in the third with a 25-18 victory.
Lalitpur Queens also registered a clean sweep, beating Madhes United 3-0. They claimed the sets 25-17, 25-13, and 25-18.
Tomorrow, Lalitpur Queens will face Kathmandu Spikers in the first match, while Karnali Yashvis will take on Lumbini Labhaj in the second. The day’s final match will see Pokhara Ninjas play Madhes United.
A total of six franchise teams are competing in the league, which will continue until August. The teams will play on a single round-robin basis, with the top two advancing to the final.
At the inauguration, Youth and Sports Minister Tejulal Chaudhary highlighted the government’s priority of developing Pokhara as a sports hub. He also announced that budget has been allocated for upgrading the city’s cricket ground and football stadium.
