Kathmandu, Sept 11:The Nepal Army has begun discussions with different factions of the Genji movement and political stakeholders to form an interim government in phases.

According to sources, informal consultations have been held with President Ram Chandra Poudel, former Chief Justice Sushila Karki, medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai and other prominent figures.

The army had been preparing for a tripartite dialogue with President Poudel and former Chief Justice Karki after she signalled readiness to lead an interim administration. However, the process has become uncertain following the appointment of former Nepal Electricity Authority Managing Director Kulman Ghising.

Meanwhile, protests continue in Sundhara, where some youth demonstrators are opposing Karki’s potential appointment as interim prime minister, saying the constitution should be protected. Dharan Mayor Hark Sampang, who has arrived in Kathmandu, has also publicly expressed his interest in leading an interim government.
