Kathmandu, Sept 17: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked his 75th birthday on Tuesday with a series of high-profile events and public programs. Born in 1950 in Vadnagar, Gujarat, Modi is spending the day in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district, where he is scheduled to inaugurate India’s first mega textile park under the Prime Minister Mitra Scheme.

Government officials say the new textile park is expected to provide jobs for thousands of young people and inject new energy into the regional economy. Last year he labelled his first disclosure an “atomic bomb,” claiming that over 100,000 votes were rigged in the Mahadevpura constituency under the Bangalore South Lok Sabha seat. Political observers in New Delhi are closely watching how Gandhi’s promised “hydrogen bomb” disclosure could influence the national debate.
