Hamas Frees 20 Israeli Hostages Under U.S.-Brokered Ceasefire Deal J

Jerusalem, Oct 13: Hamas on Monday released all 20 surviving Israeli hostages in a historic step to end the devastating two-year war in the Gaza Strip.
The release took place under a U.S.-initiated ceasefire agreement, bringing new hope for lasting peace in the Middle East.
The U.S.-brokered ceasefire and hostage deal was formally announced during President Donald Trump’s visit to Israel. Trump said the agreement “effectively ends the war and opens the door to regional peace.”
Under the deal, Israel will release over 1,900 Palestinian prisoners and allow the uninterrupted flow of food and humanitarian aid into Gaza. The step is viewed as a significant beginning toward post-war recovery and normalization of daily life.
The Israeli military confirmed that it had received 13 hostages through the International Committee of the Red Cross. They were taken to a military base in southern Israel to be reunited with their families, and three were flown by helicopter to hospitals for medical examination.
Hamas also formally handed over 13 hostages to Red Cross officials. According to the Israeli army, all hostages will be safely returned to Israel and provided with necessary medical and psychological support.
The agreement is seen as a decisive turning point toward peace after the Gaza war, which has killed tens of thousands of Palestinians and caused massive destruction. Monday’s release marks a hopeful beginning for regional stability as the ceasefire begins to take effect.
