Sharad Vesawkar Announces Retirement from International Cricket

Kathmandu, Nov 9: Nepali cricketer Sharad Vesawkar has announced his retirement from international cricket. He retired following Nepal’s final match of the Hong Kong Sixes tournament on Sunday, where Nepal lost to the UAE and concluded their campaign.

Vesawkar began his cricketing journey in the 2002 U-15 Asia Cup held in the UAE. Over the years, he became a key figure in Nepal’s rise in international cricket, including the nation’s successful World Cricket League Division 5 campaign.

He was also part of several historic milestones for Nepali cricket:

  • Nepal’s first recognized first-class match
  • Nepal’s first ODI international
  • Nepal’s first T20 international

Vesawkar has been widely regarded for his composed batting and his role in shaping Nepal’s middle order during crucial phases of the country’s cricket development.
