Delhi Car Bombing: PM Modi Vows to Punish Conspirators
New Delhi, Nov 11: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned Monday evening’s car bombing in Delhi, promising that those behind the attack “will not be spared.”
Speaking from Bhutan on Tuesday, Modi said, “I am in touch with all the agencies investigating the incident. The truth behind this conspiracy will be uncovered, and the perpetrators will face justice.” The Prime Minister left for a two-day visit to Bhutan earlier in the day.
So far, neither the Indian government nor its investigating agencies have officially confirmed the cause or the group responsible for the explosion.
According to officials, eight people have been confirmed dead, though local media reports suggest the death toll may have risen to 12. Delhi Police Officer Raja Banthia stated that six bodies have been identified and five have undergone postmortem examinations.
The explosion occurred near the historic Red Fort (Lalkilla), a major tourist site that attracts thousands of visitors daily. The Archaeological Department of India announced that the site will remain closed for three days as investigations continue.
Security measures have been heightened across Delhi and its surrounding regions since Monday night. Police presence has increased in crowded public areas, while Mumbai — India’s financial capital — has also been placed under high security alert.
