Factory Explosion in Faisalabad Kills 20, Gas Leak Suspected
Kathmandu, Nov 23: The death toll from a factory explosion in Faisalabad, Pakistan, has risen to 20, rescue officials said.
Emergency services spokesman Farooq Ahmad stated that preliminary investigations indicate the blast was caused by a gas leak. The explosion occurred when a boiler at a factory in Malikpur detonated, destroying many buildings and nearby houses.
Many people were rescued from the debris, but several succumbed to their injuries in hospitals. The factory is located in Shahab Town, Malikpur, near a stadium. Rescue officials also reported that nine houses were damaged in the accident.
Authorities are continuing investigations to determine the exact cause and assess the extent of the damage.
