Kathmandu, Dec 10: Family members and supporters of former Pakistani Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan staged a demonstration outside Adiala Jail on Monday, expressing deep concern over his health and alleged mistreatment.

Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, accused prison authorities of denying the family access and subjecting Khan to “inhumane treatment.”
“We have been coming every Tuesday for eight months, yet we are not allowed to meet Imran Khan. This torture must end immediately,” she said, adding that repeated requests for visitation have been rejected.

A large number of PTI supporters joined the protest, demanding transparency about Khan’s condition. Security was tightened around the jail as senior PTI leaders, including General Secretary Salman Akbar Raja and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial chief Junaid Akbar, joined the sit-in. They alleged that despite court permission for visits on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the prison administration has been blocking all meetings.

After nearly a month, Khan’s sister Uzma Khanum was granted a brief 20-minute meeting on December 2. She later reported that while Khan appeared physically stable, he was suffering from “psychological torture.” According to her, Khan blamed Pakistani Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir for orchestrating this alleged mental pressure.

The Pakistani military strongly denied the accusations, calling Imran Khan “mentally unstable and self-centered.”

Following Uzma’s statements, the government banned further family meetings. Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar said political discussions during prison visits violate jail rules, adding, “Reports of political messages during Uzma Khan’s meeting led to the cancellation. There will be no further meetings.”

Tensions between the PTI and the government continue to escalate amid growing uncertainty about Imran Khan’s condition inside Adiala Jail.
