Kathmandu, Dec 18: The government has recommended to the President to issue an election ordinance related to the election of Constituent Assembly (CA) members.
A Cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided to issue an ordinance amending provisions related to CA elections and forward the recommendation to the President.
According to the ordinance submitted to the Cabinet, the Election of Members Act, 2074 will be amended to determine population-based representation of Dalits, indigenous nationalities, Khas Aryans, Madhesis, Tharus, and Muslims.
The amendment aims to ensure proportional inclusion of various communities in the CA election process.
