Empowerment Not Possible Without Economic Self-Reliance: Acting Mayor Dangol
Kathmandu, Jan 28: Acting Chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Sunita Dangol has said that the slogan of empowerment cannot be realized unless people become economically self-reliant.
Inaugurating the Kathmandu Festival 2082 on Wednesday, Dangol said that whether it is women’s empowerment, youth empowerment or empowerment of any section of society, the main foundation is economic independence.
“Whether we talk about women empowerment, youth empowerment or individual empowerment, the most important path to achieving it is economic self-reliance. Until we become economically self-reliant, our various slogans of empowerment cannot be fulfilled,” she said.
She said such fairs and festivals give hope and opportunities to entrepreneurs and help connect producers with the market, even when they are unable to promote their products properly in society.
Dangol also said that Kathmandu Metropolitan City is ready to work in coordination with both the private and public sectors in the coming days to promote entrepreneurship and economic activities.
