Balen Expresses Confidence in Stronger Nepal–India Relations After Call with Modi
Kathmandu, March 10: Senior leader of the National Independent Party, Balendra Shah (Balen), has expressed confidence that relations between Nepal and India will become stronger and more fruitful in the coming days.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed through a Facebook post that he had spoken by phone with Balen and RSPB President Ravi Lamichhane and congratulated them on their party’s victory in the election.
In his message, Modi congratulated both leaders and conveyed best wishes for the formation of the new government. He also expressed India’s commitment to work together for shared progress, prosperity and public welfare.
Responding to the message, Balen expressed gratitude for the congratulations and said he believed the historic and close relations between Nepal and India would reach new heights. He said both countries could work together to make bilateral relations stronger, deeper and more result-oriented.
Balen also congratulated the Indian government and people for winning the World Cup title twice in a row.
Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress has decided to nominate Balen as the Prime Minister of Nepal. He was elected to the House of Representatives from Jhapa-5, defeating CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli by a large margin.
