Kathmandu, May 27. Diamond merchant Mehul Choksi, one of India’s most wanted in connection with the Punjab National Bank(PNB) fraud case has been arrested. He was arrested while trying to flee to Cuba from Dominica.

Choksi had been wanted for a INR 140 billion fraud case in the Punjab National Bank. Choksi had taken citizenship in Antigua and Barbuda in 2017 and fled India in the first week of January 2018.

He was earlier reported missing by his lawyer, with last being seen at Antigua and Barbuda on Sunday.

Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne has asked Dominica to directly hand him over to India, so that he can face criminal charges there.

Choksi’s nephew, Nirav Modi was also involved in the scam. He was arrested in 2019 is currently in London jail. Modi is denied bail and extradition from the court.
