Indian PM Modi announces “YUVA” scheme for aspiring writers in India

Kathmandu, June 11. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a new scheme named “YUVA” for aspiring writers across India. “YUVA” stands for Young, Upcoming and Versatile Writers.

Under the scheme, a total of 75 writers below the age of 30 will be trained to represent India’s literature and culture globally. They will be given a monthly stipend of INR 50,000. The training will last for a total of six months.

Indian PM Modi revealed the details of the scheme through his Twitter account. He tweeted, “Here is an interesting opportunity for youngsters to harness their writing skills and also contribute to India’s intellectual discourse.”

It is said that the government of India through this scheme aims to bring out writing as a better profession. The National Book Trust (NBT) will be training the selected writers along with publishing their books. Their books will also be translated into other languages to ensure sharing of culture and literature between other Indian states.
