British Ambassador Pollitt pays courtesy call to Minister Khatiwada, hands over 2.1 million doses of covid vaccines
Kathmandu, February 18: Nicola Pollitt, the British Ambassador to Nepal, made a courtesy call to Minister for Health and Population Birodh Khatiwada on Thursday. She presented him with 2.1 million covid vaccination doses.
Minister Khatiwada recalled the strong links between Nepal and the United Kingdom, which have lasted over 200 years, and was thankful to the UK government for assisting Nepal in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. Minister Khatiwada said, “I heartily express my gratitude to the UK people and government there for providing essential assistance, including vaccines and ventilators to fight the COVID-19 pandemic”
In addition, health minister Khatiwada emphasized that the UK government has been supporting Nepal since 2004 in order to implement the Nepal Health Sector Strategy.
Roshan Pokharel, the Secretary of Health, briefed Ambassador Pollitt. Other high-ranking ministry officials also attended the event.
