Kathmandu, February 19. The Australian Defense Department has said that China has fired laser on one of its spying planes.

The department said that the incident occurred on Thursday and put the lives of the crew in danger.

They said in a statement on Saturday that the laser was from a People’s Liberation Army navy vessel, that was assisting another Chinese vessel. Both ships are now said to be in the Coral Sea, east of Australia.

The department further said, “We strongly condemn unprofessional and unsafe military conduct. These actions could have endangered the safety and lives of the ADF personnel”.

There has been previous incidents in which US and Australia have accused China of firing lasers. Tensions are increasing in the South China Sea where Beijing claims its entirety while US and its allies push for freedom over the waters.
