This pandemic is changing but it’s not over; 110 countries see surge in Covid-19 cases
WHO
Kathmandu, July 1. The World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday warned of a sharp increase in daily COVID-19 cases in 110 countries.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, “Cases are on the rise in 110 countries, causing overall global cases to increase by 20 per cent and deaths have risen in 3 of the 6 WHO regions”.
“This pandemic is changing but it’s not over… genomic sequences are declining and it is becoming harder to analyze future emerging variants,” he said.
Vaccination is the most effective tool in fighting the pandemic. The chief urged countries all over the world to fully vaccinate at least 70 percent of their population.
The health body recently indicated that only 58 percent of countries had fulfilled the 70 percent target.
