270 Complaints Filed Against Local Governments in Siraha in First Two Months of Fiscal Year

Siraha, Sept 20: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Bardibas office, has reported that 270 complaints have been filed against various local governments in Siraha during the first two months of the current fiscal year.

Devi Prasad Thapalia, Assistant Spokesperson and Information Officer, presented the data during a local level interaction on “Corruption Control and Promotion of Good Governance” held at Sukhipur Municipality on Thursday.

According to Thapalia, 26 complaints have been resolved, while 244 remain under process. Among the 17 local levels of the district, the rural municipalities received the highest number of complaints, with 46 cases, of which four have been addressed, and 42 are still pending.

The status of complaints against other municipalities is as follows:
– Lahan Municipality: 16 complaints (1 rejected)
– Siraha Municipality: 27 complaints (5 rejected)
– Golbazar Municipality: 23 complaints (1 rejected)
– Mirchaiya Municipality: 13 complaints (1 rejected)
– Bhagwanpur Rural Municipality: 12 complaints (1 rejected)
– Bishnupur Rural Municipality: 18 complaints (2 rejected)
– Naraha Rural Municipality: 7 complaints (1 rejected)
– Sakhuwannkarkatti Rural Municipality: 5 complaints (1 rejected)

Other municipalities such as Dhangadhimai, Sukhipur, Bariyarpatti, Laxmipur Patari, Arnama, and Navrajpur also had complaints filed against them, with numbers ranging from 3 to 15.

Ram Avtar Yadav, Mayor of Sukhipur Municipality, claimed that some of the complaints were filed with the intent to create obstacles and hinder development work.

The CIAA Bardibas office is responsible for handling cases across nine districts, including Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi (Madhes province), Okhaldhunga, Khotang, Solukhumbu (Koshi province), and Sindhuli and Ramechhap (Bagmati province).
